A major goal of my leadership team was to imbed equity in all practices across the district. This included, for example, discipline practices, instructional delivery and assessment practices, student representation in clubs, athletics, and all extracurricular opportunities, and student voice in decision-making. This work included the creation of two equity coordinator positions in the district to lead adults and evaluate our system of supports and the effectiveness of resources provided. Our equity lens findings provided perspective with respect to better supporting all students and to ensure historically underrepresented student groups remain actively engaged and supported by the school community.
